Flatbed Scanning
For original artwork of up to 20 x 30 inches we use an Epson Expression 10000XL. With 2400 dpi resolution – higher than any other B-size flatbed scanner available today – plus a 3.8 Dmax and 48-bit color, the Epson Expression 10000XL offers everything professional photographers and graphic artists require for high-quality scanning.

This hardworking scanner features Epson’s exclusive ColorTrue® II Imaging System, which combines superior image processing, a Xenon lamp, and Epson MatrixCCD™ technology for enhanced colors and pinpoint registration. Its 3.8 Dmax delivers a broad dynamic range with excellent shadow detail. And, an AutoFocus optics system, when activated, adjusts the focus and captures clear, precise images every time.

Film Scanning

Direct Digital Capture
In order to achieve the best possible reproduction of an original artwork, you must start with a superior scan. For large flat copy artwork we use either a direct digital scan back system or a Nikon studio camera. We employ a digital scan back attached on 4x5 large format studio camera, capable of digitizing artwork of up to 36x48 inches.

This digital scan back was especially designed with fine art reproduction objects in mind. It produces exceptionally high quality reproductions of original works of fine art. The Nikon offers excellent polarization results and with the help of recent software technologies, creates files that can be used to create museum quality reproductions at 100% of the original. We can offer many levels of resolution depending on your budget and quality requirements.

Digital Editing and Color Management
Once your paintings are professioanlly scanned and digitized they need to be calibrated to match the colour and tonal values of the original. We calibrate and proof right on the archival media/papers you will be printing on in you limited editions. We are extremely fussy about colour matching and fine detail. Once the match has been finalized we print and file your colour printer's proofs here on site. All digital files are stored and archived for future editons or repeat orders.

Our calibration services include colour correction, image manipulation, retouching and photo-restoration services. All our devices are custom ICC profiled. With over 20 years experience in Adobe Photoshop and digital manipulation, colour is second nature. You can be assured that all scanners and monitors are colour managed and properly calibrated for accurate colour quality at all stages of the imaging process.
